FIRN Women 2022 Program
FIRN Women have a full schedule of activities for 2022. Most of the FIRN Women events this year will take place at 1pm on the third Friday of each month via a hybrid delivery mode, with some exceptions. Each event will take place physically at the hosting location with participants being able to zoom in from their own computer or from a self-organized regional hub. With regional hubs, participants can meet in-person and join the meeting together with other academics from the same region. This hybrid mode aims to achieve a good balance between in-person networking and accessibility given participants’ diverse geographic location in the current uncertain environment. Being an event host or a regional hub host requires access to a room with tech facility that is designed for video conferencing.

2022 FIRN Women Annual Conference
Friday, 22nd of July, 2022
Hybrid
FIRN Women will be holding our annual women’s conference again this year on Friday 22 July 2022. Government restrictions allowing, it is anticipated that the conference will be run in centralised ‘hubs’ in capital cities to allow for some in-person networking. Each hub will be connected to other hubs via zoom. The research day is open to all FIRN members to attend at no cost.
The conference will consist of two parts. The first part will be a keynote presentation by Professor Xiaoyan Zhang, followed by a 45-minutes fireside chat with FIRN(Women) members. The second part of the conference will feature flipped research presentations. Presentations will be approximately 10 minutes in duration and papers will be presented by discussants (not authors).
Submitting authors therefore commit to presenting a paper written by another author.
